The Smith County Republican Club will host Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller at the July monthly meeting.
Miller is an eighth generation Texas farmer and serves now as the 12th Commissioner of the Texas Department of Agriculture. Since taking office, Miller has visited every continent on the globe to promote Texas agricultural products.
According to the club, one of his most significant accomplishments was his historic visit to China that led the way to opening the Chinese market to Texas beef, for the first time in decades.
The July meeting for the Smith County Republican Club will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 12 at Hollytree Country Club in Tyler. The club’s meetings are always open to the public and all are invited. Attendees are encouraged to come early as seating will be limited.
